This question was posed on an internet forum I frequent, by the author of this blog:
http://philangelus.wordpress.com/2009/01/26/monday-morning-question-of-courses/This is an easy question for me to answer, because right now I'm taking
two such classes.
Last semester, I signed up for a ceramics course for my art credit. I'd always wanted to take ceramics and thought it would be more fun than art appreiciation, as I already appreciate art! However, due to low enrollment, the section I signed up for was cancelled and I had to throw in a last-minute replacement. I needed a science credit, but the only open science class at that time was planetary astronomy. I was scared to death but took it... and fell in love. I made some wonderful friends and really got into the class. So much so that I decided to take second semester, stellar astronomy, with the same professor and a lot of the same people. I don't need the class, but I find it so interesting that I couldn't not take it.
This semester, I managed to get into that ceramics class. In fact, as I write this post, I am also busy making clay stamps from whatever I can find close to me! It's such a blast; as Lena said, who knew being an adult could be so much fun! The stuff we get to do in the class just amazes me and I can't wait to express my creative talents in a media I've never tried before. And I'm learning that I love the feel of clay on my hands; It feels so natural, so organic, and so sensual all at the same time. I can totally understand that throwing scene in Ghost now!
There you have it - Monday Morning's question, answered.
